Rose wine comes in all shapes and sizes — or, at least, many shades of pink — but regardless of that, you’re probably going to be drinking a lot of it as the temperature creeps up. Here’s a look at six recent rose releases, from all over the place. 2016 La Crema Pinot Noir Rose Monterey – A quite dry rose, floral with notes of lilac, apple, cherry, and even some carrot, which lends a vaguely vegetal note to the finish. The conclusion is quite drying, with hints of grass and some blonde wood notes. Jean-Paul Balland Sancerre Rose 2016 – Clear to the eye with a tender rose coloured appearance and grey flecks. The initial impression on the nose is delicate and intense, with primary aromas of flowers (orange blossom) and fruits (currant, citrus). Domaines Ott BY.OTT Rose 2016 – Delicate & restrained on nose. Displays fresh red berry & citrus fruit aromas with a hint of dusty minerals. Lithe & precise on palate, with zesty strawberry, red currant & tangerine flavors. Tangy acidity. Closes taut, dry & long, with resonating spiciness & good focus. 2016 VieVite Rose, Cotes de – Provence With a beautiful translucent pink hue, VieVité exudes the colors of a true Côtes de Provence rosé wine. On the nose, an expression of ripe tropical fruit is balanced with a pleasant bouquet of white flowers and a discreet touch of spice. On the palate, well-structured fruit and balanced acidity creates a crisp and delicate finish. 2016 Feudi di San Gregorio Ros’Aura – Intense and crystalline rose. On the nose, it gives sensations of fresh red fruit, from strawberries to raspberries of the forest, ending in notes of cherry. In the mouth, it presents a freshness recalling just harvested red fruit. 2016 Fleurs de Prairie Rose, Côtes de Provence – Crafted in the traditional Provençal style, Fleurs de Prairis is a pale salmon color with delicate flavors of strawberry, rose petals, and herbs. Its bright, refreshing acidity makes it a perfect companion with a meal or as an aperitif.
